Sundays at Portico

We invite you to join our church on a Sunday morning as we gather together to worship God and enjoy time with His people. Please see the following answers to questions people often have when visiting a church.

What time is your service, and how long does it last?

Our Sunday morning worship service begins at 10:00 a.m., and it typically lasts 80-90 minutes.

Where do you meet, and where should I park?

Our church building is located at 800 N. Illinois Street, Arlington, VA. We have a parking lot that can be accessed from N. Jefferson Street. From that parking lot, there is a small flight of stairs and accessible ramp up to our main entrance door. Street parking is also available on both N. Illinois Street and N. Jefferson Street.

What are your worship services like?

Each Sunday, our aim is to bring glory to God in response to what Jesus Christ has done for us. When we gather for worship, we do the following things:

  1. Read God’s Word. Our worship is filled with the reading of God’s Word (i.e., the Bible) so it can be heard, believed, and obeyed. (1 Tim. 4:13)

  2. Pray God’s Word. We pray by praising God, confessing our sins to Him, thanking Him for His grace, and asking Him to meet our needs. (Matt. 6:7-13)

  3. Sing God’s Word. We sing God’s Word back to Him, and to each other, through psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. (Col. 3:16)

  4. Preach God’s Word. The sermon is God’s Word explained and applied to our hearts and minds, by the power of the Holy Spirit. (2 Tim. 4:1-5)

  5. See God’s Word. In baptism and the Lord’s Supper, we see the same gospel of Jesus Christ that is proclaimed from God’s Word. (Matt. 28:18-20; 1 Cor. 11:23-34)

Do you have a children’s ministry?

You are more than welcome to keep your children with you during our services. But yes, we also have a children’s ministry that is available for “walkers” through 4th grade. Learn more about Portico Kids here.
