The mission of Portico Kids is to help parents nurture and instruct the next generation in the faith and love of Jesus Christ. Every Sunday, we seek to help children grow in their faith through Gospel-focused lessons, relevant and age-appropriate activities, and a place of belonging in our church community.
We offer programming for children who are confident walkers through 4th grade.
Check-In & Pick-Up
Portico Kids check-in is open from 9:50–10:15 a.m. in the conference room, located just to your left as you enter the building. You will receive matching parent and child labels that you can use to check out your child at the end of the service.
Our Walkers classroom is open during the entire service. Elementary/PreK-aged children will be dismissed to their classroom during the service prior to the sermon. All children may be picked up following Communion during the songs at the end of the service.
Safety & Security Process
All Portico Kids volunteers complete a security screening, including a background check and safety awareness training.
PKids Rooms
Moms’ Room
A designated room for moms to care for their infants during the service. Rocking chairs, a changing table, and a livestream of the worship service are available for use.
Nursery
Our nursery is not currently staffed by volunteers, but it is available for parents to utilize to play with and care for their infants if needed during the service.
Walkers Room
(Confident Walkers – age 3)
The goal of this space is to provide a safe and welcoming environment where children are nurtured through play, social interaction, and practical discipleship through the care and love of our volunteers.
Elementary/Pre-K Classroom
(Ages 4 – 8)
In this classroom, we initiate intentional discipleship through the use of The Biggest Story curriculum. We communicate the overall storyline of Scripture, using video, engaging activities, and discussions to reinforce learning. This classroom also incorporates prayer, Scripture memory, and community building to help children grow in the knowledge of God.
Catechism Class
(3rd and 4th Graders)
For children in grades 3 and 4, we offer a catechism class that meets twice per month during the sermon time of our worship service. We use the New City Catechism as our curriculum for this class. On the Sundays the class does not meet, children remain with their families during the sermon.
