Portico Arlington is centered on five core values: Inspire, Involve, Instruct, Invest, and Initiate. Portico Kids centers itself on these values as well, focusing on three directly.
At Portico Kids, we seek to:
INSTRUCT the mind of the child, giving them an accurate picture of God and the gospel.
INSPIRE the heart of the child to treasure Christ above everything else.
INVOLVE the parents, creating a community of teaching and learning that extends beyond Sunday.
→ SUNDAY ENVIRONMENTS
Portico Kids offers the following environments on Sunday mornings:
The Nursery: For infants ages six weeks to 12 months, the nursery is designed to give gospel-centered care in an environment that is exciting and safe.
Toddlers: For children one and two years old, the toddler room provides gospel-centered care with intentional story time using children’s Bibles.
Pre-K Classroom: For children three years old to kindergarten, this classroom follows a gospel-centered curriculum to introduce worship, prayer, and community in an age-appropriate manner.
Elementary Classroom: For children from kindergarten to fifth grade, the elementary classroom follows a gospel-centered curriculum to help children develop a deeper understanding of who Christ is and build a relationship with Him through worship, prayer, and community.
→ HELPFUL INFORMATION
Portico Kids receives children in the nursery for the 10:00 a.m. service beginning at 9:50 a.m. at the Portico Kids Concierge Desk.
The Portico Kids Concierge Desk closes at 10:15 a.m. Children may not be checked in after this time.
When you check your child in, you will receive a security tag that corresponds with a name tag your child wears while in the Portico Kids rooms.. When you pick up your child after the service, you will be asked to return your child’s security tag before your child will be released to you.
Please notify the Portico Kids Director, if your child has any behaviors or other conditions of which we should be aware.
Please do not bring an ill child to Portico Kids. Keep your child at home if in the previous twenty-four hours he or she has exhibited any of the following symptoms: fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, runny nose, red rash, or obvious listlessness.
Please do not allow your child to bring food or candy with them. During snack time each Sunday, children who are walking or older are given Rice Chex. If your child has food or other allergies, please inform the volunteers at the Kids Concierge whether your child should not receive a snack.
When leaving a diaper bag or backpack with a child, please ensure their name can easily be found within or on the outside of the bag.
Necessary diapering and toileting is provided for infants, toddlers and preschool children.
Please be timely in retrieving your child after the service.
