Open to Talk: Exploring the Person and Works of Jesus | 04.06.18 - 06.08.18

Open to Talk provides a warm and open space to discuss the big questions of life, and to explore the person at the heart of Christianity—Jesus Christ. It is designed for those who don't identify with the Christian faith and are open to learning more.

Dinner will be provided, each session will include a short talk, followed by peer-led discussion groups created to foster open dialogue, in which participants discuss the topic at hand, ask any question, or merely sit and listen.

  • Where: Portico Church Office (3240 Wilson Blvd, Suite 200, Arlington, 22201)
  • When: Fridays from 7-9pm, April 6th-June 8th (excluding May 18th)

Please register HERE to let us know if you will be attending.

If you have any additional questions please contact Sam Birk at

*Note: If Portico is your church home, please only attend if a) you don't consider yourself a Christian, b) you're new to following Christ and want to learn more, or c) you are bringing someone who doesn’t identify with the Christian faith. This is in order to make room for non-believers, and to encourage you to do this with someone!

Foundations | 03.23.18 - 03.24.18

FOUNDATIONS is an introduction to the community, theology, and values of Portico Church Arlington. It’s a snapshot of what it means to be a member on mission with us. If you are new, FOUNDATIONS is a great place to connect with others.

How it works…FOUNDATIONS will take place over two days, beginning with a Friday evening session over dinner from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. The evening will be an opportunity to engage with others over good food and hear from our leaders about the vision, values, and mission of our church.

The Saturday session will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Portico Church Office in Clarendon (3240 Wilson Boulevard, Suite 200, Arlington, VA, 22201). The pastors and leaders of Portico will teach on how we live out the three identities we embody as disciples of Jesus: Worshippers, Family, and Missionaries. Attending both sessions serves as our pathway to membership. The Saturday session will include:

  • belonging to God: theology, beliefs and overview of the Gospel
  • belonging to each other: membership, community, service, and gifts
  • belonging on mission: local and global outreach

There will also be plenty of time for discussion.

For the Saturday session, a cost of $10 (per person) is required for materials.

If you would like to attend the Friday session or both, please SIGN UP HERE. Space is limited so register soon!

Please contact Pastor Nate Wagner with any additional questions.

The member meeting is a great opportunity for you to hear from Portico Leadership regarding what the Lord is doing in our church family and our plans for the upcoming months.

(Parents, please pick up your children after communion in order for the PorticoKIDS volunteers to be able to attend.)

Good Friday Service | 03.30.18

Before Jesus rose on a Sunday, he died on a Friday. Easter weekend begins with an opportunity to reflect on God's death in our place. Good Friday is a time of worship that leads to a deeper appreciation of Sunday's good news. Join us on March 30 for a Good Friday service as we worship together with our friends at Cherrydale Baptist Church.

Cherrydale Baptist Church (3910 Lorcom Lane, Arlington, 22207) will host a 7:00 p.m. Good Friday service again this year and several area churches will be joining us. We encourage you to park off-site at H-B Woodlawn or on Lorcom Lane, so that our our guests can readily find parking. Please note that weekday parking is not allowed on Military Road. Also, please do not park at St. Andrews as they will be having a Good Friday service that evening.

Child care will be provided for children up to 3 years old. Please pre-register here to ensure that we have adequate child care providers. Child care registration closes Monday, March 26.

Please note:  Arlington Bridge Builders will be collecting food items at the Good Friday Service for local distribution to those in need. Below are suggested items to donate to the food pantry.
