Clarendon Day | 09.22.18

Dear Portico Church Arlington,

We have a fantastic opportunity to be present in our local community in a big way – Clarendon Day 2018.

Clarendon Day is an annual street fair which draws over 20,000 people for fun, food, and music. It is free and a great time for locals to gather together. Find out more HERE.

Being on mission together begins by being present in our cities. For a fifth year in a row Portico Church Arlington has signed up as a non-profit exhibitor at Clarendon Day. We are excited for this opportunity to get out and meet/serve our city.

As a non-profit exhibitor, we will have an official spot with a tent. Our goal is to connect with everyone at the event, letting them know we are here and encouraging them to come check out Portico. In the past few years, this has brought us new attenders and now members! We will have some info sheets and some swell Portico-branded swag to hand out. We hope to make many new connections.

This is an all-hands-on-deck outreach. We are asking everyone who calls Portico Church home to join us in attending and serving at Clarendon Day on September 22.

Please SIGN UP HERE to be a Clarendon Day event volunteer.

E-mail Portico Outreach Coordinator, Vicki Blanton at with any questions or for more info about serving at Clarendon Day.

Foundations [Brunch Edition] | 09.29.18

FOUNDATIONS is an introduction to the community, theology, and values of Portico Church Arlington. It’s a snapshot of what it means to be a member on mission with us. If you are new, FOUNDATIONS is a great place to connect with others.

How it works… FOUNDATIONS will take place on Saturday September 29 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. During our time together the Pastors and leaders of Portico will teach on:

  • belonging to God: theology, beliefs and overview of the Gospel
  • belonging to each other: membership, community, service, and gifts
  • belonging on mission: local and global outreach

There will also be plenty of time for discussion.

In the middle of our time together, we will break and enjoy BRUNCH! Food will be provided, and as we share a meal together we will also have time to get to know you and share more about the community and history of Portico Church Arlington.

We will meet at the Portico Church Office in Clarendon (3240 Wilson Boulevard, Suite 200, Arlington, VA, 22201)

Please SIGN UP HERE. Space is limited so register soon!

Please contact Pastor Nate Wagner with any additional questions.

9th Annual Chili Cook-Off | 10.13.18

It’s that time of year. Temps are dropping. The leaves are changing colors. And Portico is hosting our 9th Annual Chili Cook-Off!

Everyone is invited to join in for a time of fellowship and fierce competition. We will host the event at Christ Church of Arlington (3020 N Pershing Drive, Arlington 22201) from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 13.

There will be an opportunity to taste and sample all the chilis, which will also be tested by an esteemed panel of judges who will determine this year’s top chili.

Bring your friends, family, and your award-winning pot of chili! Please let us know you are coming with your RSVP.

Those of you cooking up chili for the event, bring a serving utensil or ladle. For those who do not wish to bring chili, please consider bringing a dessert to share. No awards will be given in the dessert category but you will certainly be rewarded with gratitude!
